PROCEDURES FOR SCIENCE CLASS
When Students Enter the Classroom:
I will be at the door during transition time to greet the students. Use this time to get out your science book, notebook and copy notes or homework assignments and sharpen pencils. Students should check for any assignment written on the board.
When I am Teaching:
Students are to remain in their seats and raise their hands and wait to be recognized before asking questions.
When Students Are Working:
Students are to stay at their desk/work area. Students may talk quietly with their lab partner except when specifically told differently. Students are expected to stay on task and complete the assignment.
When Students Are Doing a LAB:
Lab activities require that the number of students who are moving around the class is kept to a minimum. Students are to keep conversation related to the lab activity AND the lab discussion is ONLY with your assigned lab group. Talking should be kept to a minimum and a quiet voice used during lab activities, or the lab will be closed. This may delay your assignment and lower your grade.
How Written Work Will Look:
Students are to include a heading on each assignment. A model will be on the board during the first few weeks of school.
Paper torn from a spiral notebook is unacceptable. Notebook paper only.
Handwriting must be easy to read and papers should be free of art work/decorations.
When Guests Come to the Classroom:
Students are to continue working.
How Students Treat Each Other:
Students are to be respectful of one another. Examples are: names, space, property, voice, ideas, and work.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES:
Students are to stop talking once the alarm sounds, follow all instructions given by teacher and remain quiet until after the drill is over, and we are back in the classroom. Students are to line up single file both leaving and returning to the class.
